Family Office Interviews. The first interview on the Family Office Sherpa Podcast has been published today. I had the pleasure of speaking with Alberts Family Office CFO, Ben Edmonds.

 Alberts could be called the First Family of Australian Music and have a 140-year history within the industry. Built on the world’s love of media and music, including bands such as AC/DC and the Easybeats, this success allowed later generations to add philanthropy and impact investing to their focus areas, structured in a way most would call a “sophisticated” family office.

 We cover:

 The history of the office – purpose, intergenerational legacy and goals

·       How it’s structured – staffing and partnerships

·       Getting stuff done – the importance of making changes via disciplined projects, not hope 

·       Governance – investment team and committees, their unique investment management set up.

·       Scaffolding – curating their technology and systems, investment reporting, and the use of wealth managers.

·       Helping other offices and the need for offices to have a collegial mindset
